After having a few days with 3 digit weather lately, I can say that these following tradescantia varieties can survive and survive with little to no damage high weather temps (105 °F max to be exact 😆).
Here is a screenshot of my local weather. I live in Northern California (95391). My plants are kept in both indoor, under a full spectrum led grow lights (I have multiple ones depending on plant needs) and outdoor where they get natural sunlight all day long.
The plants below are living their lives to their fullest on my front porch 😆. They get full morning direct natural sunlight and indirect all afternoon natural sunlight. My porch is facing south east - this gives you an idea on how much natural light they get all day long.
Our first contender, the dainty, elegant and vibrant, when given the right condition, Tradescantia zebrina ‘Happilee’ (previously called ‘Danny Lee’ named after the person who discovered the cultivar from Costa Farms).

This next one I’ve imported from Poland. It simple in my opinion with just green and white stripes variegation on its foliage and probably basic looking to some but I adore how round the leaves can get. It would most likely often be mistaken with tradescantia continental (previously called albiflora) albovittata, or maybe even with nanouk by some who are not very familiar with the many varieties but we call this one Tradescantia continental ‘Giant’.

As you can see this one has really gotten ‘giant’ and trailing quite beautifully.
Another two tradescantia variety that I’ve have seen maintain its health and appearance with high weather temperuture are the Tradescantia pallida ‘Pale Puma’ and Tradescantia continental ‘Creme’ (others know this one as Ivory Hill).

A few questions you might be thinking right after seeing all the photos are:
Why does hers still look they way they are as if they have not been in a 105 °F weather temperature?
How come mine will surely have declined health afyer leaving in thay kind of heat?
What does secret does she have that makes these plant so resilient to extreme high weather conditions?
Here’s a few answer I would love to share with you.
1 - These plants had been established and fully rooted.
2 - They slowly acclimated to the high weather temperature since the week before.
3 - They were prepared for this heat wave. I made sure they were all watered the day prior.
4 - They are healthy and well fed.
I have a few other varieties that didn’t show any heat damage outdoor on my front porch as well as some that show very obvious heat damage. I will post them as soon as I find time to write it hopefully in the next few days.
